SUBSEA DESIGNERS

Job Summary

Provision of design support within the Engineering department under supervision from the Senior Engineer. Produce legible and accurate engineering designs and drawings for manufacturing, maintenance and operations within prescribed time frame.

Essential Qualifications / Experience / Skills Required

  • HNC / HND in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (alternative qualifications may be accepted depending on experience)
  • Extensive knowledge, experience and a proven track record in computer aided drawing/ designing techniques in an engineering environment
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of Solidworks (alternative 3D CAD software knowledge may be accepted depending on experience)
  • Ability to produce innovative design packages in an efficient manner which meet the requirements set
  • Ability to work in a team environment and have a conscientious, positive and enthusiastic approach to work, maintaining good working relationships with colleagues, clients, suppliers and visitors
  • Highly motivated, self-starter able to work unsupervised, with a flexible and adaptable approach and an ability to prioritise workload
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills are a must, along with excellent demonstrable written and verbal communication and a willingness to learn new skills
  • A professional approach with an eye for detail and a persistence to ensure ongoing tasks reach conclusion.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the production and where appropriate, checking of detailed designs and drawings of components, layouts and assemblies etc. as required
  • Prepare concept, proposal & layout drawings to support all departments
  • Ensure accurate recording of work time and duties to allow tracking of departmental expenditure
  • To work at all times to the Company’s Quality Management System and in a safe, responsible and cost effective manner.

SUBSEA DESIGN ENGINEERS

Job Summary

Plan, direct, and coordinate design project activities to ensure that goals or objectives of the design projects are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters. Establish work plans and personnel requirements for design project activities. Prepare status reports, schedules and plans for design projects and provide the technical contact point for external clients.

Essential Qualifications / Experience / Skills Required

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering; other qualifications may be accepted depending on experience
  • Experience as a junior design engineer (or equivalent) in a product design environment preferred
  • Experience with pressure control equipment or relevant alternative equipment
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Solidworks (alternative 3D CAD software knowledge may be accepted depending on experience)
  • Proficient in the development and implementation of design procedures and processes
  • Proficient in all methods of communication (verbal, written & presentation)
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work alone unsupervised
  • Effective member of a team
  • Ability to produce innovative design concepts in a short time scale which meet the requirements set

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Generate conceptual designs or customise existing designs for proposals / projects from the customer or internally generated specifications
  • Verify designs where necessary using classical analysis techniques (bending, buckling, shear, bearing and pressure vessel) for inclusion in product design files and Product Design Documentation
  • Present designs to engineering staff during internal design reviews
  • Generate equipment assembly, test, FAT, handling, storage, rework, maintenance and commissioning procedures as required
  • Provide necessary support to the various internal departments (manufacturing, shop, planning, QA, commercial, purchasing, assembly etc.) as equipment is progressed through the facility
  • Develop more junior members of the department through technical coaching and mentoring
  • Ensure accurate recording of work time and duties to allow tracking of departmental expenditure
